April Birchbox Review

So with the move to NYC I didn’t have an address in time for my Birchbox to be sent here to me here so my parents shipped it over and I received it on the very last day of April. Oh well, I have it now and I’m excited to to share with you my reviews of the products! (PS: Consider purchasing a monthly subscription- it’s like Christmas in your mailbox every month!)

Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum

photo 1YOU MUST WEAR SUNSCREEN DAILY. You must! I used to be a tanoholic but I’ve taken a back seat to excessive tanning.

Supergoop’s anything but goophy…its Hydrovotin 24 complex works with your skin’s moisture to increase hydration levels, while vitamins E and B5 heal past damage (thank you…there’s a lot of damage there). This products has a top-of-the-line rating meaning the formula meets the highest standards for sun protection. This product is paraben and fragrance-free—just what the doctor ordered for my sensitive skin! YAY!

I apply a small pea sized amount to my face, neck, and chest 15 minutes before I apply my makeup for the day. I have been using this (almost) every day since getting it in my box. I plan on getting a larger version of this.

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner 7

The soft wax formula of this eyeliner goes on smoothly to create clean lines or can be smudged to smoky perfection (which just doesn’t even work for me). Plus, the long-lasting liner will hold up all day and night (YAY)! Side note…trying to sharpen this is terrible! I can’t figure it out and I’ve been using 2 different types of sharpeners and I’m getting nothing! Oh well…I’ll figure it out eventually!

photo 1Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo & Number 4 Reconstructing Masque

Birchbox recommends pairing with Number 4’s  Reconstructing Masque, so I did. I like to follow directions when it comes to new products (and it helps when the product is also IN my box). Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo, is scented with white freesia, golden amber, and warm musk (aka so heavenly), to cleanse without stripping moisture or color (because we all need that help)! The masque works to reconstruct and strengthen your hair while natural conditioners (shea butter, jojoba seed oil, and sunflower oil) nourish and moisturize.

For the shampoo I used an amount just a little bigger than a quarter (I have extremely thick hair). It was a bit sticky (not sure if this is the correct definition), not sticky like a sticker but it wasn’t the normal shampoo feel in my hands. Applying it was another story- it felt great. I made sure to really lather it in my hair. I did use my own conditioner. Next I applied the masque to my hair and waited (it recommends 2-5 minutes but I don’t have a clock in my shower so I just shaved and waited a bit before rinsing).

I am more than likely going to be purchasing the hair masque. I want to make sure I keep my hair healthy with all the dying, strengthening, and curling I do to it. Also, the Number 4 products I have used (including these) smell FANTASTIC!

Color Club Gala’s Gems Collection in Aquamarine photo 2Azulino

Spanish-born blogger, stylist, AND DJ, Gala Gonzalez, teamed up with Color Club to launch a four-piece nail polish collection. The colors are a perfect pastel for spring and have a nice luxe pearl finish. I love a nice pastel and I’m glad I can add this to my collection!

photo 2KIND Healthy Grain Bar

Each bar is made with five super grains for maximum nutritional and taste bud benefits.  I got the Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt! I’m not sure if I would get this flavor again- I’m not a big sea salt person. I did like that that bar was chewy but had a crunch! It was nice to not have *crumbs everywhere* like some bars. Also, with it’s size it was convenient to toss in my bag as I walked around the city (I like to have some sort of snack in my bag in case I need it).

  1. Have you tried the ipsy box? I had a Birchbox subscription for awhile but wasn’t super impressed. I have heard awesome things about ipsy. This was a nice review though! I still love seeing what people get in their monthly boxes!
